Where have the thought provoking films gone? I certainly hope that recent numbers are not an indicator of big budget films disappearing..
What I consider to be the “Star Wars” of it’s time, The Matrix not only grasped us with incredible film science, but a fantastic “can opening” thought provoking story.

It’s official: the latest chapter of Star Wars will be scored by John Williams.

The composer, who has crafted the score for all six titles in the space opera saga, was confirmed to be joining J.J. Abrams‘ Episode VII by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy on Saturday at a Star Wars fan event in Essen, Germany.

Venice Unveils Classics Lineup

ROME — The Venice Film Festival has announced the lineup of its Venice Classics section, which comprises Luchino Visconti’s “Sandra (Of a Thousand Delights),” toplining Claudia Cardinale, who will be the event’s guest host.

Restored by Sony Pictures Entertainment, the new print of “Sandra” (Vaghe stelle dell’Orsa) will open the Lido section dedicated to classics and film history docus at the fest’s upcoming 70th edition.
